Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, also called Sunday Igboho, recently made a wide allegation. Even though he was being cautious, he, however, claimed that a trusted associate betrayed him to the government. According to Ighoho, the Department of State Services (DSS) agents invaded his home through a close associate. In spite of this betrayal, he escaped unhurt because of the spirit of his ancestors and his people. Although he lost 2 of his men during the raid of his home in Ibadan in July 2021.
Visit to Ondo
Igboho gave a speech over the weekend while visiting Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III. Oba Ajibade, a prominent Oba and the Olowo of Owo, in Ondo State, warmly received him.
He, however, did not provide the ally’s name, but he said the betrayal killed his cat during the raid. Undoubtedly, he described it as a direct attempt on his life.
“When my house was invaded, they wanted to kill me but failed. They did a great job shooting at me,” Adeyemo remarked, “Your prayers, my fathers, for me, were answered.”

DSS and his Associates
Sunday Igboho claims that his personal assistant was compelled by the security personnel to enter his house. In addition to that, they forced him to show them his room. He insisted that a close friend had already told the DSS agents about his cat.
They saw my cat on the bed as upon opening the door. However, one of my pals, whom I trusted with my secrets, instructed them not to reveal the information. He said, “Therefore, they killed the cat and wrapped it in cloths like a corpse.”
Raid Condemnation
Notable influential Nigerians, such as Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka, and a number of sociopolitical organisations condemned the raid. Moreover, the raid killed two people and destroyed property. Consequently, these notable people vehemently accused the government of abusing its power.
Cotonou Arrest
Igboho who recounted his ordeal, was later arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic, while he attempted to flee the country. However, all attempts to extradite him back to Nigeria proved abortive as the Benin government rebuffed the Nigerian government’s pressure. Even though it’s a small country, they asserted their sovereignty to uphold the rule of law via due process.
Appeal to President Tinubu
The Yoruba separatist agitator has appealed to the monarch to intervene on his behalf by talking to the government. According to him, “Tinubu is your son; you can convince him to free me so as to serve my people. I would have entered the bush and faced them (insecurity)” he pleaded.

The Oba’s Counsel
Oba Ogunoye, the paramount ruler and the Olowo of the Owo Kingdom, described Igboho as a symbol of hope. In addition, he sees him as a role model and inspiration to many Yoruba youths both at home and abroad. Nonetheless, the Olowo of Owo himself urged him to continue to uphold the law while pressing his cause.
Conclusion
The recent visit of Sunday Adeyemo to the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, is commendable. Furthermore, it is imperative for him to listen to wise counsel as he continues his cause.
