Names of the Military Fallen Heroes of the Orire Rescue Mission

The decision to use force to rescue the kidnapped children and teachers in Orire LGA came with its consequences. Hence, the military in its tactical operation lost men in the battle field in a bid to rescue the victims. The Orire LGA is located within the boundaries of Oyo State. After the rescue operation, the military released the names of the men who lost their lives in the battle.

Identities of Fallen Heroes Announced

The identities of security operatives who died during the 56-day rescue mission in Oriire, Oyo State, have been revealed. The fallen personnel include Lieutenant F. A. Isaac of the Nigerian Army, Private Silas Musa of the 81 Battalion, and Sergeant Abena John Jerome of the Nigerian Police Force.

Injured Soldier Survives Crossfire

Lance Corporal Adamu Hussain of the 81 Battalion survived after sustaining injuries during the operation. The rescue mission also left another soldier wounded.

Senate Pays Tribute to Brave Personnel

The Senate honored the security personnel for their bravery. Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele said the rescue was intelligence-driven and followed President Bola Tinubu’s directive to mobilize resources.

Operation Lasted Over 50 Days

The operation lasted for more than 50 days. It ended with the safe return of most hostages, the arrest of eight suspected terrorists, and neutralization of several others.

Tragic Loss of Abducted Teacher

Senate Leader Bamidele regretted the death of one abducted teacher while still in terrorists’ custody. Likewise, he described the kidnappers’ actions as harrowing and wicked. In addition, he urged all states of the federation to take tougher security measures.

Family Mourns Late Lieutenant Felix Ademe Isaac

Isaac Alabura, father of Lt. Felix Ademe Isaac, expressed deep sorrow. He said, “It is natural to feel pain whenever you lose someone, even if it is an enemy.”

Lt. Isaac Described as Hope of Family and Community

Alabura said his late son was “the hope of the family and the community.” He hoped Lt. Isaac would rise through military ranks before his untimely death.

Disappointment Over Lack of Official Briefing

Alabura criticized the military and Oyo State Government for not briefing the family officially on the incident. In fact, they felt terrible as there was no communication to that effect.

Commendation for Officers Who Recovered Body

He praised four senior officers who ensured Lt. Isaac’s body was brought to Yola for burial despite challenges. Mr Alabura said, “He had just returned from training at the Nigerian Defence Academy and was preparing for another assignment. Instead, he was directed to lead the rescue operation in Oyo.”

Nevertheless, the family appealed for military and government support, noting his son paid the ultimate price serving the nation.

Cousin Describes Lt. Isaac’s Character

Tidwawa Nelson Eweh, the deceased’s cousin, called Lt. Isaac calm, intelligent, and hardworking. “We have lost a promising officer who had so much to offer,” he said. In their grieve, the family remained proud that their son died gallantry in the service of its Motherland.
