2027: Nigerian Students Praise Tinubu’s Performance

Ondo State students and young people have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 reelection campaign, saying that his record in office will secure him another term.

Additionally, the performance and leadership of Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, were cited by the students as a key driving force for their choice to provide President Tinubu with overwhelming support.

Furthermore, the students, led by the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Ondo State, made the declaration on Thursday during a mobilisation visit to the pro-Tinubu support group, the Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG), in Akure.

Speaking on behalf of the students, the NANS JCC Chairman in the state, Comrade Mayomi Adekanye, said Dr Tunji-Ojo’s track record has made it easy for them to canvass support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Tinubu’s Achievements in His Current Term

President Tinubu has made significant strides in economic reforms and security. Hence, he has boosted investment opportunities and improved infrastructure development. Additionally, he strengthened Nigeria’s position in regional and international affairs. Students appreciate his efforts to enhance education and job creation.

We are here today for that reason. Invariably, canvassing our support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through him is extremely easy because he has been functioning exceptionally well, he remarked, notwithstanding the state of the nation.

“Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo is the reason we are here. He is a trailblazer and our leader. He has made government more accessible to the populace.”

Economic Growth Under Tinubu’s Leadership

Tinubu’s administration focused on stabilising the economy amid global challenges. In addition, inflation rates have shown signs of control, and currency stability improved. The government invested in agriculture and technology sectors to diversify the economy. Students recognise these policies as vital for long-term growth.

Security Improvements and National Stability

Security remains a top priority for Tinubu’s government. The administration enhanced law enforcement and military operations against insurgency. However, collaborative efforts with regional neighbours helped reduce cross-border threats. Students applaud progress in restoring peace to affected communities.

Education and Youth Empowerment Initiatives

Tinubu’s government launched programmes targeting education and youth empowerment. No doubt, scholarships, skill acquisition centres, and entrepreneurship support increased opportunities for the young ones. Consequently, students see these initiatives as transformative for Nigeria’s future workforce. They urge the continuation and expansion of these programmes, as the current minister of interior has done a good job already.

Furthermore, Adekanye added that the minister’s impact spans his time in the National Assembly and his current role, noting that his support for students has further strengthened their resolve.

Remarking at the event, Director-General of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, Hon. Olumuyiwa Asagunla, said the mobilisation was part of a broader grassroots strategy aimed at delivering massive votes for the president in 2027.

According to him, the group is targeting at least 95 per cent of the votes in Ondo State.

Students’ Views on Tinubu’s Leadership Style

Many students admire Tinubu’s transparent and inclusive leadership approach. He engages diverse groups and listens to youth concerns. His administration promotes accountability and fights corruption systematically. This leadership style strengthens public trust and fosters national unity.

Challenges Faced During Tinubu’s Term

Despite successes, Tinubu’s government faced challenges such as inflation and infrastructural deficits. However, students acknowledge ongoing efforts to address these issues. They believe improvements will accelerate with sustained leadership. Patience and persistence remain critical for achieving lasting solutions.

Why Students Support Tinubu’s Re-election

Students argue that Tinubu’s re-election will ensure policy continuity and national progress. They fear abrupt changes could disrupt ongoing projects and reforms like the NELFUND that has helped so many poor students to remain in school. Many view Tinubu as the best candidate to unite Nigeria’s diverse population. Their support signals youth’s confidence in his vision.

Importantly, Hon. Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo is a proud sponsor, as he has made the vision of his principal come to reality through his ministry. According to Asangunla, “we are organising young people and students to publicly endorse our president.”

“He has always supported students through bursaries and other interventions since his days in the National Assembly, and we are leveraging that to promote President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” he stated.

However, Asagunla revealed that over 3,000 young people—including over 1,000 students—were mobilised for the event and that preparations were in motion to expand the campaign to colleges around the state.
