President Donald Trump a few hours ago disclosed that after the accused killer’s father turned him over to police authorities, the suspected assassin of Charlie Kirk has been eventually apprehended. The president declared on the Fox & Friends Friday morning show with some demeanour of assertiveness on the suspect’s arrest. According to the president, “I think with a high degree of certainty we have him in custody.”

Tip-off By Suspect’s Parent
After his relatives tipped off the police, they took Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old Washington, Utah native, into custody. Tyler was a former Utah State University student, and his arrest was effected on Thursday evening. Trump described how “someone who was very close” to the suspect turned him in to the police, ending the manhunt. He called the tipster the assassin’s “father” and “minister”.
Charlie Kirk Shot Dead at Utah College Campus
Two days before Trump’s declaration, someone shot and killed the conservative icon during a gathering on a Utah college campus. Furthermore, the videos making the round showed how horrifying the incident was. Trump stated that he now wants to execute the murderer who killed the man he called the “finest person”. “Well, I hope they get the death penalty and are found guilty, I would imagine,” Trump stated.
Charlie Kirk was the best person in the world, and no one deserved this for all he had done. Everyone admired him because he worked hard and well.

The Shooter Confessed
During a press conference on Friday morning, Utah Governor Spencer Cox announced that authorities detained Robinson. “We have him.” According to Cox, who spoke at a news conference on Friday, “A family friend of Tyler Robinson contacted the authorities. Despite his confession, Tyler Robinson’s dad did the right thing by contacting the Washington County Sheriff’s Office that same evening. Importantly, it was on September 11 with information that Robinson had confessed to them or implied that he had committed the incident.”
Security Agencies Applauded
The Director of the FBI, Kash Patel, praised the agency for ending the manhunt in just 33 hours. For that reason, Director Kash Patel described the suspect’s capture as “historic”. According to individuals who spoke to the Daily Mail, the 22-year-old admitted to being the shooter to his father. After alerting the police, his father, Matt Robinson, restrained his son until the police arrived.
Death Penalty Card On The Table
The alleged shooter lived in a six-bedroom, $600,000 house in Washington, Utah, about 260 miles south of Orem, where the massacre occurred. Utah Governor Spencer Cox indicated that he intends to pursue the death penalty. “You have a very good governor in Utah, and they have the death penalty there,” Trump remarked. “The governor, whom I have come to know, strongly supports the death penalty in this case.”

$100,000 FBI Reward
The president attended the September 11 Yankees’ memorial game in New York City, his long-time home, on Thursday. He spent the night in the studio for his Fox & Friends interview. Additionally, the FBI offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
Shooter’s Description
According to the video, it shows the gunman sprinting across the Utah Valley University Lossee Centre’s roof, jumping to the ground, and then leaving the area. Officials report that the shooter left behind a shoe print from a pair of Converse trainers and a palm print. After that, the culprit likely ran to a nearby residential area, where security cameras captured him strolling past. Officials describe the shooter as “of college age”. The shooter wears a patriotic t-shirt printed with “Land of the free, home of the brave”, along with a black mask, Converse shoes, and aviator sunglasses.

Murder Weapon
The murder weapon—a high-powered, bolt-action rifle—was used in the nearby woods. Investigators reportedly found ammunition engraved with ‘transgender and anti-fascist remarks’ inside the discarded rifle, sources told The Wall Street Journal. Someone also reportedly left three unspent rounds with writing on them inside the magazine.
Vice President’s Detour
Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha cancelled their plans to go to New York City for Ground Zero services on Thursday and travelled to Salt Lake City, Utah, to join Kirk’s family. Vance carried Kirk’s casket along with his wife, two kids, parents, and close friends aboard Air Force Two back to his home state of Arizona. Kirk, 31, spoke at Utah Valley University in Orem at around 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

Charlie Kirk’s Late Moments
During Kirk’s ‘American Comeback’ event, the 3,000-strong crowd asked questions of the MAGA influencer. He was unapologetic about his strong views, especially on pro-life, anti-abortion, anti-immigration, anti-LGBTQ+, gun violence, etc.
However, someone on the roof of the Losee Centre, roughly 200 yards away, fired a single shot as he answered a question on mass shootings and gun violence.
The shot hit Kirk in the neck and knocked him out of his chair. As Kirk’s security team hurried toward him, terrified crowds fled the scene. They took him to a nearby hospital, but he died from his wounds.
“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” Trump said a few hours after Kirk passed.
Everyone, myself foremost, loved and admired him, but he is no longer with us. Charlie, we love you! In his honour, Trump commanded everyone to fly all flags at half-staff.

Tyler Robinson: His Father Encouraged His Son To Turn Himself In
We reported earlier that Utah’s Governor Spencer Cox had thanked the family of Tyler Robinson for doing “the right thing in this case” and helping to turn the suspected Charlie Kirk shooter over to law enforcement.
The Associated Press (AP) news agency has shared more details of how the 22-year-old suspect was taken into custody.
According to the AP, Robinson’s father recognised his son as the suspected culprit from images released by authorities and then encouraged him to turn himself in, a law enforcement official said.
The young suspect refused at first but then changed his mind, according to the official, who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.
Robinson’s father had also reached out for help to a youth pastor, who also helped his son turn himself over to police, the official said.
Governor Cox would not say if Robinson was cooperating with the investigation while in custody. Nevertheless, the suspect was being held on Friday at the Utah County Jail.
Family members of Robinson did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment; hence, it was not clear if Robinson had a lawyer yet.

Controversy Trails Right-Wing Activist In Death
Even in death, Charlie Kirk remains a polarising figure, with progressive US magazine The Nation publishing an obituary that dispels attempts to “whitewash” the right-wing activist’s legacy.
In an article titled “Charlie Kirk’s Legacy Deserves No Mourning”, writer Elizabeth Speirs describes Kirk as “an unrepentant racist, transphobe, homophobe, and misogynist who often wrapped his bigotry in Bible verses because there was no other way to pretend that it was morally correct”.
Speirs unleashed a broadside on what she called a “whitewashing campaign” following Kirk’s death, saying, “It’s a choice to write an obituary that begins ‘Joseph Goebbels was a gifted marketer and loving father to six children’.”
“When we decline to speak ill of the dead, it’s because we have compassion for the living,” Speirs writes.
“In this respect, I am sorry for Kirk’s children. I don’t know if Kirk was a good father, but if he was, that does little to mitigate the damage he did to other people’s children,” Speirs added.
