The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) killed Muhammad Abd al-Aziz Abu Zubaida, the most senior member of ISIS. Furthermore, he also heads the Palestine District of ISIS, the IDF said Friday.
The IDF posted a message on its official X Twitter on Friday to avoid misinformation by some mischief-makers. Nevertheless, it disclosed how the senior terrorist commander died.
How Abd al-Aziz Abu Zubaida was Neutralised
The text stated without any form of ambiguity how they eliminated him. It states the IDF eliminated Muhammad Abd al-Aziz Abu Zubaida, the leader of the ISIS terrorist group’s Palestine District. Furthermore, the district where they killed him lies under the Bureij region.

Abd al-Aziz Abu Zubaida Method of Operation
As the most senior ISIS official in Gaza, Abu Zubaida set policy, organised and supervised the terrorist group’s operations. Additionally, his supervisory role covers Gaza, Judea, Samaria, and the Sinai Peninsula. Furthermore, his job description also involves bringing money and war gear into Gaza.
Hamas’ General Security Leader Neutralised
Just two days ago, when much detail was not available, it was revealed that the IDF killed Mahmoud al-Aswad. He was the leader of Hamas’ General Security Apparatus for the West Gaza region.
The IDF stated in a post on its official X feed that al-Aswad played a vital role. He served as a major intelligence source for Hamas operations in the area, aside from links with other terrorist groups.
Hamas Infrastructures Destroyed
The military also disclosed that as part of continuous attempts to neutralise Hamas fighters and destroy its operational capabilities. For this reason, Israeli forces struck terror infrastructure installations both underground and above in Khan Yunis and Gaza City.

Journalist Caught In The Crossfire
Days back, Israeli aircraft struck al-Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza on Monday, killing at least 20 persons, including five journalists.
The Guardian reports on Reuters cameraman Hussam al-Masri, Associated Press freelancer Mariam Abu Dagga, and Al Jazeera’s Mohammed Salam. Additionally, NBC employee Moaz Abu Taha died. Hatem Khaled, a photographer with Reuters, also suffered grave injuries.
Al-Ghad TV aired footage showing journalists and civil defence personnel in bright orange vests racing to rescue their colleague. Obviously, it was the body of al-Masri’s they went to retrieve while gunfire targeted them. The rescuers raised their hands for safety in their last seconds before the attack struck.
Journalist War Coverage Demise
Since October 7, 2023, at least 192 Palestinian journalists have died, exceeding the world’s total for three years combined. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), the journalist war coverage demise for the Hamas-Israeli war is alarming. Its figure shows that journalists that have died in the last three years combined have been exceeded by the war.

Conclusion
Israel’s military confirmed it killed Muhammad Abd al‑Aziz Abu Zubaida, the ISIS commander in Gaza, during a targeted strike. Later that same day, an Israeli airstrike struck Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, killing five journalists—including Mariam Dagga—and at least 20 people overall. The IDF called the attack a “mishap” and launched an investigation. Outrage followed as the Gaza war claimed over 230 journalists’ lives. Families and press freedom groups condemned the brutal toll. Free, truthful reporting faltered under fire; local journalists continued risking everything to bear witness to war’s unfolding horrors.
