APC Endorses Tinubu for 2027 Presidential Election

APC Officially Endorses President Bola Tinubu for 2027 Re-election

Abuja, May 22, 2025 – Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to run for a second and final term in the 2027 presidential election. The endorsement was announced during the APC National Stakeholders’ Summit held in Abuja, where party leaders, governors, and federal lawmakers unanimously backed Tinubu’s candidacy.

Unanimous Support from Party Leadership

The National Working Committee (NWC), all 22 APC governors, and the National Assembly leadership declared their full support for Tinubu’s re-election bid. The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), led by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, moved the motion, which was seconded by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani. Uzodimma emphasized that Tinubu’s leadership has driven economic reforms and inclusive governance deserving of continuity.

APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje stated,

“On behalf of the National Working Committee, I hereby confirm various endorsements declare President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the sole presidential candidate of the APC.”

Tinubu’s Vision and Party Confidence

President Tinubu, who won the 2023 election amid contested results, expressed gratitude for the endorsement and pledged to continue with reforms aimed at revitalizing Nigeria’s economy. His administration has been credited with removing petrol subsidies, deregulating the foreign exchange market, and initiating infrastructure projects, earning praise from international investors and agencies.

Tinubu remarked,

“I am expecting more to come; that is the game. We are in a constitutional democracy that guarantees the freedom of movement and the freedom of association.”

Despite challenges such as insecurity and cost-of-living pressures, the APC leadership believes Tinubu’s policies have set Nigeria on a path of steady growth.

Opposition Response and Political Landscape

Opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party, are reportedly strategizing to present a strong candidate to challenge Tinubu in 2027. However, defections from opposition ranks to the APC have strengthened the ruling party’s position.

Political analysts note that Tinubu’s endorsement and the APC’s consolidation of support reflect a robust political machine gearing up for the next election cycle.
