Davido Says Twin Son Looks Like Late Ifeanyi

Singer Describes Emotional Journey from Tragic Loss to Healing and Hope

Nigerian music superstar Davido has revealed that his newborn twin son bears an uncanny and “scary” resemblance to his late son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, who tragically died in October 2022 after drowning at Davido’s Lagos home. The resemblance has deeply moved the singer and his family, making them feel as though Ifeanyi has “come back.”

In a heartfelt interview with Apple Music 1 host Ebro Darden, Davido reflected on the emotional toll of losing Ifeanyi at just three years old and how the birth of his twins-a boy and a girl-in October 2023 brought a sense of divine healing and renewed hope.

“That type of loss made me be like, ‘I’m out.’ I just wanted to focus on my wife and family, and get my head right,” Davido said. He described the striking resemblance between his late son and his newborn twin boy as “scary,” saying it often feels like Ifeanyi has “come back.” “We’re like, ‘No, it’s him. He came back,’” he shared emotionally.

Davido credits the birth of the twins and the success of his 2023 album Timeless as signs of God’s intervention and a turning point in his life. The experience has also made him more humble and compassionate, inspiring him to encourage others facing hardship.

Beyond his personal journey, Davido revealed exciting professional news: he has collaborated extensively with American singer Chris Brown, recording about 20 songs together, with plans for joint albums. He is also venturing into film production, serving as an executive producer for a movie and series with director Dammy Twitch, alongside working on his documentary.

Davido’s candid reflections have resonated deeply with fans, highlighting themes of grief, resilience, faith, and renewal.
