Tinubu Not Controlled by Any Cabal, Says Information Minister
Abuja, May 22, 2025 – The Federal Government has firmly denied persistent rumors that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is under the influence of a cabal or shadowy inner circle. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the clarification at the APC National Summit in Abuja, emphasizing that President Tinubu is an independent leader who makes bold decisions solely in the national interest.
President Tinubu’s Decision-Making Style
Idris explained that while President Tinubu welcomes a wide range of perspectives and listens to advice from various quarters, “his decision is ultimately his own.” He stated,
“You need to study the president very well. You can have your voice; you can say what you want to say; he will listen to you, but his decision is ultimately his own.”
This, he said, dispels any notion that the President is beholden to any cabal or external influence.
The Renewed Hope Agenda
The Minister highlighted the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” as a bold, people-first blueprint designed to transform Nigeria by turning obstacles into opportunities. Idris cited landmark decisions such as the removal of petrol and foreign exchange subsidies—moves he described as crucial to ending years of economic waste and enabling the government to redirect resources to infrastructure and social programs.
Achievements and Impact
Idris pointed to several achievements under Tinubu’s leadership, including:
- Over 2,600km of signature highways and the Kano-Kaduna Standard Gauge Railway under construction
- The Renewed Hope Cities and Estates initiative to address housing needs
- About 300,000 students benefiting from the National Education Loan Fund
- The deployment of 90,000km of fibre optic cable to boost broadband access and e-governance
- Strengthened national security with new military equipment and regional development commissions
He also noted that Tinubu’s administration inherited a nation at a crossroads and responded with clarity and courage, implementing reforms that have improved fiscal stability, attracted investment, and empowered local governments.
Conclusion
Minister Idris concluded that President Tinubu’s leadership is driven by a commitment to positively impact the lives of ordinary Nigerians through independent, courageous, and inclusive decision-making. “With every policy, there is an ordinary Nigerian whose life is being positively impacted,” he said.
