AAAN Opposes Separate Regulatory Body for Out-of-Home Advertising

The Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) has expressed opposition to the proposed bill seeking to establish a separate regulatory body for out-of-home advertising in Nigeria.

In a statement issued by the association, AAAN argued that the proposed bill would create unnecessary duplication of functions, as the advertising industry is already regulated by the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON).

AAAN also expressed concerns that the proposed regulatory body would increase the cost of doing business for advertising agencies and outdoor advertising practitioners, ultimately affecting the Nigerian economy.

Furthermore, the association emphasized the need for a single regulatory body to oversee the entire advertising industry, rather than fragmenting regulation among different segments.

In conclusion, AAAN urged the National Assembly to reconsider the proposed bill and instead focus on strengthening the existing regulatory framework for the advertising industry.
